For a general introduction and statement about why this blog exists see About the New Ebook Release Blog
The book lists is divided into two portions, the books that are published by an agency publisher (which generally means they are of more interest) or which I personally found interesting, and those which are not.
The second list will contain some very interesting books on average, but will also have a much larger number of books to look through. For a more detailed discussion of this distinction see Agency Books

| Blood Maidens | Barbara Hambly, | A new novel in her James Asher series of vampires. LONG before Buffy and the current surge in urban fantasy these were precursors to all of that. |
| The Humanoids | Jack Williamson, | This might be public domain somewhere, a lot of the pulp stories are, however it is a classic and very influential tale. |
| Darker Than You Think | Jack Williamson, | A classic urban fantasy. One of the earliest. This might be public domain, but is worth checking out. |

| The Heroes | Joe Abercrombie, | Gritty fantasy, with a lot of recommendations. |
| The Dragon's Path | Daniel Abraham, | I've heard good things about Daniel Abraham. |
| Dark Jenny | Alex Bledsoe, | A noir gumshoe in a magic world. |
| Tiassa | Steven Brust, | The latest 'Vlad' book. Don't start reading here, but if you are fan you will want this book. |
| A Kingdom Besieged: Book One of the Chaoswar Saga | Raymond E. Feist, | The latest in the continuing saga from Raymond Feist. |
| Pale Demon | Kim Harrison, | I've enjoyed the earlier Hollow tales, however I'm going to wait for a price drop on this one. |
| George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones 4-Book Bundle: A Song of Ice and Fire Series: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows | George R.R. Martin, | If you haven't read these books, this is a good deal. |
| Late Eclipses: An October Daye Novel | Seanan McGuire, | Don't read this first, but the latest in an urban fantasy series by Campbell award winner Seanan McGuire. |
| Kings of the North | Elizabeth Moon, | The latest in her 'Paks' series, it focuses on other characters. Still quite worthwhile. |
| The Drawing of the Dark | Tim Powers, | One of Tim Powers' best books. This is a classic novel, and it is still unique. For a reprint it is overpriced however. If you haven't read it, it is worthwhile, but since I own a paper copy, I'm not going to repurchase it. |
| The Wise Man's Fear: The Kingkiller Chronicle: Day Two | Patrick Rothfuss, | The biggest release of the year so far. Read The Name of the Wind first, and then this book. |

| Dead Waters | Anton Strout, | A good urban fantasy series. |
| Misplaced Legion | Harry Turtledove, | The first in a 'Roman Legion' meets Byzantium with magic series. One of Turtledove's best novels IMO. |
| House Name: The House War: Book Three | Michelle West, | The publication date on this is wrong, it wasn't published until much later. This is a retelling with more details and some changes of the events during her Hunter series. I enjoy her novels, but don't start here. |
| A Bad Spell in Yurt (The Royal Wizard of Yurt) | C. Dale Brittain, | An enjoyable low key fantasy. |
| Spellsinger: A Spellsinger Adventure (Book One) | Alan Dean Foster, | A fun modern guy sent to strange world novel. A little overpriced for a reprint however. |
| Blood Maidens | Barbara Hambly, | A new novel in her James Asher series of vampires. LONG before Buffy and the current surge in urban fantasy these were precursors to all of that. |
| The Armies of Daylight: The Darwath Series (Book Three) | Barbara Hambly, | End of her best series. |

| The Witches of Wenshar: The Sun Wolf and Starhawk Series (Book Two) | Barbara Hambly, | Read the Ladies of Mandrigyn first, but then read this. |
| Goblin Tales | Jim C. Hines, | A nice set of short stories by Jim Hines. He's a writer to watch. |
| Memory | Linda Nagata, | I read this based on a link from James Nicholl. I loved it, although it is more science fiction than fantasy, but it feels like fantasy. |
| Grander Than the Sea (Marla Mason) | T.A. Pratt, | I like T.A. Pratt, and this looks like a Marla Mason short story. |
| Haruspex (Marla Mason) | T.A. Pratt, | Another Marla Mason Storry |
| Hart and Boot (story) | Tim Pratt, | Another Pratt book. |
| The Second Book Of Swords (Saberhagen's Swords Series) | Fred Saberhagen, | A classic fantasy series |
| The Dracula Tape (Saberhagen's Dracula Series) | Fred Saberhagen, | One of the earliest urban fantasies, long before the genre became as popular as it is today. |
| The First Book of Swords (Saberhagen's Swords) | Fred Saberhagen, | I'm delighted to see these reprinted as eBooks. The first three books are some of my favorite fantasy novels. |
| The Third Book Of Swords (Saberhagen's Swords Series) | Fred Saberhagen, | The final book in the first set of the Sword books, these are very worth reading, and unlike other reprints, they are not overpriced. |
| Darker Than You Think | Jack Williamson, | A classic urban fantasy. One of the earliest. This might be public domain, but is worth checking out. |

Agency vs Non Agency 1/1/2011 to 5/24/2011
Below is my new set of statistics. It is interesting that Non Agency books dominate Amazon in raw numbers, they are cheaper and there are far more of them. However I suspect if you were to account for sales, the domination would be the other direction, there are of course outliers (Amanda Hocking for example). The exception would probably be romance, since I don't think Harlequin is an agency publisher.
